ACTIVITIES

Each year, The Squamish Multifaith Association hosts a Unity in Diversity Dinner, recognizes March 21st International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, collaborates with the local branch of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to coordinate the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive in Squamish District and supports an  Annual Multicultural Day at Totem Hall

Unity in Diversity Dinner

The annual event celebrates our common unity while recognizing the richness of our diversity. Guest speakers are asked to present on a topic of common interest.

BC Thanksgiving Food Drive (BCTFD

The BCTFD Project is a province-wide initiative that helps feed thousands across BC who rely on food banks for their basic nutritional needs. The food drive in Squamish is coordinated jointly between the Squamish Multifaith Association and the local Branch of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Working alongside the Squamish Food Bank and a host of wonderful community volunteers, donation bags are delivered during the third week of September to various neighborhoods in Squamish. The bags are picked up on Saturday of the week, sorted and stored at Squamish Food Bank. In 2023, 5000 lbs of food was collected and $5000 in online donations received in support of the event.

Multicultural Day Totem Hall

Multicultural Day is an initiative of the elders of the Squamish Nation in collaboration with Squamish Multifaith Association. An increasing diversity and grassroots participation continues to develop as  other individuals and community organisations, including Pearls Space and Newcomer Services join in supporting the event.
